Pance blueprint 201912/18/2023 There are many ways to use Rosh Review, which I detail later. I usually didn’t have to think twice before choosing an answer on test day because Rosh Review made me confident. If anything, Rosh Review’s questions were a little harder and went a bit more in depth than the test questions. I even think I had some of the exact same questions during the PANCE. My main resource was Rosh Review, and I can confidently tell you that the questions are very similar to those on the PANCE. When I got close to exam month/day, I didn’t spend as much time going over explanations except for my weaker topics. I completed all of the Rosh Review questions for each topic during these time frames and reviewed the answers and explanations. Week 15: Review any weak areas and continue taking practice exams.Week 14: Complete one practice exam sponsored by NCCPA, continue Rosh Review (random order).Weeks 11, 12, 13: Complete all of Rosh Review (random order) + practice exam each week.Week 10: Infectious disease (5 days) + practice exam.(Note: the 2019 blueprint has been updated): I made a study plan calendar and broke it up into topics based on the PANCE blueprint. I began thinking about PANCE review in February ( 4 months before the PANCE = 16 weeks). Here’s how I studied and PASSED my boards on the first try. Failure is also embarrassing! I wanted to do everything possible to prepare for the PANCE so I could feel confident when I finished. I was super stressed about passing because I was tight for money and needed to start working immediately. All of my friends who graduated the year before me said the same thing: “You’ll feel like you failed when you walk out of the PANCE, but don’t worry, you’ll pass.” I didn’t want to feel like I failed and then wait 5–7 days for my results. I took my PANCE 2 weeks after graduation and PASSED, so I started working on July 1st. doi: 10.1097/JPA.I graduated from Clarkson University’s Physician Assistant program in May 2018 and am a Family Care Physician Assistant in a small, rural, underserved Upstate New York town. Reliability and validity of PAEA End of Rotation™ examination scores for predicting performance on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. Physician assistant educational research: 50 years on. In: Accreditation Standards for Physician Assistant Education. To date, there is very limited research regarding student performance metrics given the PANCE blueprint update in 2019, and these data are critical to aid programs in ongoing development and best preparation for learners.Ĭopyright © 2022 Physician Assistant Education Association.Īccreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). In consideration of the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Standards and expectations for ongoing self-assessment, including PANCE analysis, this research was timely and necessary. Clinical Medicine II didactic course grades, PACKRAT I & II scores, and PAEA End of Rotation Exam scores in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine were all significant predictors of PANCE score. Descriptive statistics were employed to provide contextual information and an overview of the included data points.Ī significant regression equation was found with r-square of 0.709. Metrics included: PAEA End of Rotation exams, PACKRAT scores, academic performance in clinical medicine didactic courses, cumulative grade point average, and select demographic and admissions attributes (age, sex, and first generation to attend college). The purpose of this multi-institutional study was to examine the relationship between PANCE scores and student performance metrics/attributes from PA program graduates from 2017-2019.Ī multiple linear regression was calculated to predict PANCE score indicators based on student attributes and performance metrics from 3 PA programs. Given the 2019 Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) blueprint update from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants, it is imperative that programs conduct analyses of student performance metrics and PANCE scores.
